KAPKAP

( or KABKAB) The fasion to wear high clogs or kapkaps was especially marked in the Eastern Mediteranian.The fashion was most often found in the coastal areas of Asia Minor, Syria, and Egypt, from the Nile to the Euphrates. The origins of KapKaps remains clouded but these were worn as part of ceremonial dress. The KabKab was a high platform worn by Turkish women in the bathhouse.
